Paul On the Road to Damascus
(Based on Acts 9:1-20)
by Nancy I. Sanders
Paul walked everywhere spreading bad news about the disciples. Left, right. Left, right. Left, right. Paul walked from town to town. “Kill the followers of Jesus!” he cried.
When would Paul’s heart change?
Paul marched up to the high priest. March, march. March, march. March, march. “Throw the disciples in jail!” he cried. The high priest gave Paul letters to arrest Jesus’ followers who lived in the city of Damascus.
When would Paul’s heart change?
Paul traveled on the road to Damascus. Tramp, tramp. Tramp, tramp. Tramp, tramp. He continued along the way. “I’ll capture the believers as prisoners!” he cried.
When would Paul’s heart change?
Suddenly, a bright light flashed! Paul fell to the ground. “Why are you hurting me?” a voice said.
“Wh-wh-who are you?” Paul asked.
“I am Jesus,” the voice answered. “Now get up and walk to Damascus. You will find out what you need to do.”
Paul stood up, but when he opened his eyes, he couldn’t see! His friends helped him walk to Damascus. After three days, God told a believer named Ananias to go to Paul and pray for him. “Tell people about Jesus,” Ananias said to Paul.
Suddenly, Paul could see again! He got up and was baptized. Now Paul was a believer, too.
Paul walked everywhere spreading good news about Jesus. Left, right. March, march. Tramp, tramp. Paul walked from town to town. “Jesus is the Son of God!” he cried.
Paul’s heart had changed the day he met Jesus!
I want my heart to change just like Paul’s did when he met Jesus. Today I pray, “Dear Jesus, Please help me to stop hurting others. Change my heart so I will think of kind things to do. Amen.”
The Bible says that God wants me to do good things. One of the best things I can do is tell people how much Jesus loves them. Here’s a verse that helps me remember to tell everyone about Jesus. “Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation.”
-Mark 16:15
